A £4m refurbishment of Phase 4 of Cumbernauld’s prime shopping centre gets under way this month.
The revamp includes new glazed entrances, replacement floor, wall and ceiling finishes, new signage, CCTV, lifts and lighting.
Tesco has surrendered its lease on its 43,000 sq ft store and is to move to a new 85,000 sq ft store in the town.
The old store is being sub-divided into six units. New Look (12,000 sq ft), Peacocks (8,000 sq ft), Ethel Austin (5,500 sq ft) and Superdrug (7,300 sq ft) have taken space and units of 7,000 and 2,500 sq ft are under offer to national multiples.
The news followed three lettings for phase 4: Bonmarché, Card Factory and Grays Jewellers.
LaSalle Investment Management is overseeing the refurb for owner Coal Pension Properties. ATIS Real Weatherall is project managing the refurbishment and sub-division of the former Tesco store.
