Phibsboro back in the melting pot

Albion Properties has been asked by Dublin City Council to revamp its plans for redeveloping the Phibsboro shopping centre and the adjacent Dalymount Park soccer stadium in north Dublin.
The company, owned by Liam Carroll and Paschal Conroy, won planning permission for the redevelopment of the centre in 2005. The Phibsboro shopping centre, with its distinctive six-storey central tower block above the retail units, is one of the oldest in Dublin, dating back to the early 1970s.
Carroll is now in the process of buying the Bohemian Football Club grounds at the back of the centre. Now, Dublin City Council wants the developers to completely recast their plans for the whole site, linking the two together and providing a greatly enhanced village centre with a more intensive mix of uses.
