Starbucks steps up store acquisitions

Starbucks has stepped up its UK acquisition programme with a string of deals in the North East and East Anglia.

In Great Yarmouth, Starbucks has become the latest brand to join the new line-up at Centenary Asset Managementís Market Gates development It has agreed a ten-year lease on a unit of 1,325 sq ft and will open before Christmas 2008 in the four-storey, 70,000-sq ft extension which will add three large stores including Debenhams.

In addition, Starbucks has agreed three deals with Capital Shopping Centres. In Eldon Square, Newcastle, the coffee retailer has opened a new store in the St Georgeís Way extension to Eldon Square. And on the opposite bank of the Tyne it will also open additional stores in the first quarter of 2008 at the MetroCentre, Gateshead.

At the same time Starbucks has taken a 10-year lease on a 2,700 sq ft unit adjacent to the St Stephen Street entrance Chapelfield, Norwich.
