O2 becomes seventh new tenant at Silverburn in 2012

O2 is to open a 1,931-sq ft store at Silverburn, Hammersonís million-sq ft mall southwest of Glasgow, meaning that 20,000 sq ft has been leased in 2012.

Other openings include Van Mildert, which chose Silverburn for its first store in Scotland earlier this year, Clarks, Fossil, Barrhead Travel with a Kuoni-branded dual facia store, and A1 Toys. In addition, Theo Paphitis opened Boux Avenue at Silverburn on November 29, the brandís first out-of-town store in Scotland.†

Sheila King, leasing director, new business, at Hammerson, said: ďThis has been a very positive year for Silverburn. The retail mix has been significantly enhanced with the addition of a range of great brands, and the centre continues to outperform the key Scottish benchmarks. We are now looking ahead to a very positive Christmas and 2013, the focus of which will be the leisure extension.Ē
A decision on Hammersonís plans for a £20 million expansion, which will create over 200,000 sq ft of leisure space, including a cinema and eight new restaurants, is expected before Christmas.

Culverwell and CBRE acted for Hammerson. JLL acted for O2.
