Topshop signs up for a 30,000-sq ft statement store at Bluewater
Bluewater has completed the first signing of 2013 with the news that TopShop is to open a specially-created 30,340-sq ft statement store on two levels. The new store, situated on Bluewater’s Upper Rose Gallery, is being created by combining and extending two existing units. It will open in the autumn this year.
The news follows a very strong performance from Bluewater over the festive period, with footfall in the five weeks from December 1 up by 2.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2011. Over 1 million people visited Bluewater in the week leading to Christmas Day; 900,000 between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day; 500,000 between Boxing Day and December 28; and December 27 was Bluewater’s busiest day of the year, with footfall reaching 170,000.
Russell Loveland, senior asset manager at Lend Lease, said: “Arcadia has been seeking a larger store at Bluewater for some time, and we are therefore delighted to be creating a bespoke statement store for TopShop and its sister brands. Their appetite for more space is a common theme across many brands at Bluewater, and is something that we work very proactively to encourage and accommodate.
