Trio of lettings at New Square

Published:  08 July, 2013

Tesco has announced a trio of pre-lets for New Square, its 473,000 sq ft retail and leisure scheme in Sandwell, West Bromwich.

Greggs, Poundworld and Real China have signed up and will open along with the scheme next month (July 2013).

Poundworld will occupy a 7,800 sq ft unit and has signed a 10 year lease. Real China has agreed to a 10 year lease for 3,800 sq ft and Greggs has secured 1,000 sq ft on a 10 year lease. The trio will sit alongside brands such as Primark, Next, JD Sports, Bank and Arcadia brand Outfit.

Jane McFarland, head of leasing & investment manager for Tesco, said: “With only weeks to go until we launch phase one of New Square, we are pleased to announce these new lettings which demonstrate retailer confidence in the project and will help us to meet the needs of the local community with a strong retail provision.

“West Bromwich has a growing, thriving catchment and we are continuing to receive interest from retailers keen to take space in the centre. We are looking forward to announcing more exciting brands over the coming weeks.”

West Bromwich is currently undergoing one of the largest regeneration programmes in the UK with the New Square development at its heart. Currently under construction, the £150m mixed-use project will include 248,000 sq ft of retail space, 36,000 sq ft of cinema and restaurant space and will provide 1,900 car parking spaces.
