The Eagle takes flight with new Derby lettings

The leasing campaign at The Eagle Centre in Derby has swung into gear with Zara, Bershka and Topshop taking over 50,000 sq ft between them.

Developers Westfield and Hermes launched the £310m extension – taking the centre to over one million sq ft – onto the market last month. And now Inditex has taken 20,000 sq ft for Zara and 5,000 sq ft for Bershka while Topshop plans to relocate from St Peter’s Street into a 25,000 sq ft unit in the new mall.

Marks & Spencer, Debenhams and Next have agreed to anchor the scheme, which is on target to open in late 2007, while the existing mall is anchored by Bhs and Sainsbury’s.

Westfield’s leasing director David Slade said: “The involvement of these exciting retailers shows huge confidence in the future of shopping in Derby. We continue to receive

considerable interest from other high quality retailers.”
