St Davidís celebrates record footfall with 40m visitors in 2015

St Davidís in Cardiff has announced a record year with footfall reaching over 40 million for the first time in the shopping centreís history.

Over the last 12 months†40,148,971 visitors have flocked to the Welsh capitalís premier retail and leisure destination, attracted by a diverse range of brands, flagship stores including the largest H&M in the UK which opened in November and an impressive leisure offer, including the first Shake Shack outside London which opened in December.

Over the last few months the St Davidís Partnership, a joint venture between intu and Land Securities, has secured deals with Kiko, Eat and Swarovski. 2015 also saw openings for Scotts, Smiggle, Treetop Adventure Golf, the first Wahaca outside London and Barburrito. 2016 is also off to a strong start with Michael Kors opening a new 3,190-sq ft store in the Spring. In total over 90,000 sq ft has been let at the centre in 2015 and more deals are in the pipeline for 2016.

Julian Wilkinson, asset management director of intu, said, ďH&M and Primark have recently opened flagship stores and we have welcomed some fantastic leisure brands over the last year, all of which have played their part in increasing footfall by 4.3 per cent. Cardiff stands on its own in terms of its retail and leisure offer and shoppers clearly like what they see at St Davidís and are keen to come back for more.Ē
