Designed in part by British architects Benoy, the centre was 100 per cent let over 12 months ahead of launch. It includes over 100 stores and 25 cafes and restaurants including Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dior, Fendi, Burberry, Balenciaga, Miu Miu, Ralph Lauren and Cartier. Fifty brands are ‘firsts’ for Abu Dhabi, with Jimmy Choo, Longchamp, Mulberry and Moschino among those making first entries to the market.
Kenneth A. Himmel, co-managing partner of Gulf Related, president and CEO of Related Urban, said: “The Galleria represents a unique combination of world-class architecture, interior design and superior finishes that perfectly complement this unprecedented collection of luxury retailers. The result is a shopping and dining destination like no other in the Middle East.”
The Galleria is one of the first pieces in Gulf Related’s major 13 ha retail-led, mixed-use development project named Sowwah Square, due for completion in Autumn 2017. Next to be delivered is a super-regional shopping mall called Sowwah Central which, together with The Galleria, will total 2.3m sq ft of retail and leisure space, supported by adjoining luxury hotels, residential and office towers.
