TrueStart is the retail and consumer innovation hub backed by Land Securities and True Capita. Launched in March this year, The Collection is a six-month programme providing start-ups with specialist support to help accelerate their growth.
Land Securities has been involved in the design of the programme and is delivering some of the masterclasses.
Six start-ups – including a clothing exchange and a nutritional drinks retailer - visited Bluewater to gain first hand insight into how the shopping centre drives retailer performance. Hosted by Craig O’Donnell, head of information systems at Land Securities, and Robert Goodman, Bluewater’s general manager, the companies were given a tour of the centre and received a series of presentations on the significance of the brand on creating engagement with consumers and on successful pop-ups among other topics.
Goodman said: “TrueStart’s Collection programme is great initiative, nurturing entrepreneurs in the retail sector, and we were delighted to host such a forward thinking group of new businesses. The masterclass was a great forum for an exchange of ideas and experiences that has been very useful for Bluewater and the TrueStart cohorts alike.”
TrueStart supports up to 20 new businesses a year, helping them to develop and test their ideas. Land Securities plays a central role in the programme, providing the entrepreneurs with advice and support, and in-turn enabling its retail destinations and retail partners to benefit from early access to emerging technologies and innovations.
