Named ‘The Quarter’, the development will comprise up to 55,000 sq ft of new units, ranging between 1,150 sq ft up to 24,400 sq ft, with pre-lets already secured for B&M and Poundland. Demolition works have begun and the first stores are due to open to the public in spring 2017.
The Quarter is located at the south-east of Old Square, just a five-minute walk from Walsall’s bus and train stations and just-off J10 of the M6.
The scheme will transform the area and complement the on-going £90m regeneration of the town centre. Norton and Proffitt Developments, a joint venture between St Modwen and Goold Estates, is working closely with Walsall Council to deliver this strategic new scheme.
Gregg Titley, development surveyor at St Modwen, said: “The Quarter represents an exciting new retail proposition for Walsall, in an area which is currently undergoing significant regeneration works.
“With planning secured for up to 11 new stores across 55,000 sq ft of space, this vibrant new quarter will enhance Walsall’s retail offering and become a destination which the people of Walsall and visitors to the town centre can enjoy.”
