Tesla, the premium electric vehicle manufacturer, has opened two in-line stores in Bluewater and Touchwood, Solihull after successfully trialling sales from mall locations.
Located in the lower Rose Gallery, adjacent to John Lewis and Ernest Jones, the Bluewater store is one of only a handful of larger format designs in the UK. In addition, Tesla has installed five Tesla Supercharger bays, located in the lower yellow car park by the entrance to the Plaza Welcome Hall.
Russell Loveland, portfolio director at Land Securities, said: “We are very excited to welcome Tesla. The innovation and experience the brand evokes for guests reflects that of our own at Bluewater and highlights the demand by leading brands and technologies. The permanent Tesla charger bays, which combined with our own electric charge points only add to the unique offer here at Bluewater.”
And Following Tesla’s successful commercialisation activity at Touchwood’s Atrium Court last year, the manufacturer has decided to take up a permanent position within the centre. Lend Lease Retail Partnership has agreed a lease on a 5,187-sq ft store on Touchwood’s Crescent Arcade alongside Apple and Hollister and opposite the newly upsized Next store.
Guy Thomas, head of retail asset management at Lendlease, said: “Touchwood’s approach to leasing has always been about building on its existing retail mix of quality independent and internationally renowned brands. Tesla is a fantastic addition to Touchwood’s experience-led offer and reflects our approach of ensuring that we continue to provide an exciting retail line-up.”
