Sovereign Centros has been given the green light by Telford and Wrekin Council to develop 70,000 sq ft of fashion retail space at Telford shopping centre in a move that will involve replanning circulation within the centre.
The plans are the latest part of a £200m investment in the centre and will see the creation of a dedicated fashion hub with new stores ranging from 3,000 sq ft to 25,000 sq ft. The development will facilitate the relocation and upsize of existing fashion tenants within the scheme and attract new retailers to the centre. A new landmark entrance from Northfield Street will also be created
The new stores will be ready for occupation in Summer 2018 in time for Christmas trading.
Alexandra Pugh, leasing and asset manager at Sovereign Centros, which is leading the redevelopment, said:“The new stores will enable us to meet demand from existing retailers looking to upsize and also attract new retailers to Telford. Three MSUs are already under offer to major fashion tenants and advanced discussions are underway with new retailers looking to take space at the scheme.”
Telford shopping centre is the largest covered shopping centre in the UK and provides more than 1 million sq ft of retail and leisure. Anchor tenants include House of Fraser, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and Primark. Other major tenants include H&M, Zara, New Look, Topshop/Topman, Next, Boots, Lush, Monsoon, River Island and JD Sports.
Savills and Cushman & Wakefield are advising Sovereign Centros.
