Two deals totalling 46,000 will boost the fashion offer at Standard Life Investments Shopping Centre Trust’s Churchill Square in
Victoria’s Secret has taken a 15-year lease on the 9,000-sq ft unit formerly occupied by HMV in Churchill Square’s Upper Mall, alongside River Island, Next, Fossil, Apple and Pull & Bear. The new store has a planned opening date of late Spring 2017.
In addition, Standard Life has exchanged contracts with Zara to upsize to a 37,000-sq ft flagship store, taking the majority of the store previously occupied by BHS. The Spanish fashion brand will trade from both mall levels and Zara Home store will retain a separate standalone store in the centre.
Ed Jenkins, head of UK retail for Standard Life Investments, said: “The arrival of Victoria’s Secret illustrates Churchill Square’s continuing appeal to leading international fashion retailers, which is reinforced by Zara doubling its presence in Churchill Square after ten years at the centre. These lettings will boost the centre’s appeal as a major fashion shopping destination in the South East attracting millions of shoppers each year.”
Standard Life Investments was advised by Lunson Mitchenall and Cushman & Wakefield.
