Fashion brand Seasalt and leading food chains Le Bistrot Pierre, Patisserie Valerie and Starbucks have all agreed leases on new units within the development, which will form an extension to the existing Three Spires Shopping centre and help to boost the retail and leisure offer in the heart of the city centre.
The announcement follows the news that The Light Cinema will open a seven-screen cinema and restaurants Pizza Express, Zizzi and the Handmade Burger Company will also be coming to Friarsgate.
Friarsgate is expected to bring between up to 10 food and drink establishments and approximately 20 shops, with 82 apartments and 11 townhouses to the city centre. The combination of leisure and retail opportunities is expected to increase the city’s shopping turnover from £55m to £107m by 2022 and is forecast to create 660 new full-time equivalent jobs for the area.
Richard Upton, Deputy CEO of U+I, said: “The four new lettings complement the city centre’s existing offer and help to unlock Lichfield’s potential as a great destination for shopping and visiting. It is an exciting time for Lichfield.”
