Queensberry announces raft of new signings for the Kingsway centre, Newport

Queensberry has announced three new names to open at the Kingsway centre, Newport. The Principality Building Society is taking a 1,700-sq ft unit next to Starbucks fronting John Frost Square on a 15-year lease. Card retailer Celebrations has signed to take 1,100 sq ft on a 10-year lease. And brow service Glamour Forever will take a 600 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease.

Daniel Mead, asset management director for Queensberry, joint owner with Bywater Properties, said: “Footfall at the Kingsway is on the increase and since Queensberry acquired the centre in 2014, figures have been up by 20 per cent. This has been further accentuated with the opening of Friars Walk, with numbers rising by a further 10 per cent. The Kingsway Centre comprises established, affordable brands and we will continue to target operators to complement the current and surrounding offer.”

The Kingsway centre is anchored by Wilkinsons, B&M and Peacocks and is located immediately adjacent to Friars Walk which Queensberry sold earlier this month. Savills is leasing agent.
