Vue cinema signs for Glasgow city centre multiplex

Sovereign Centros, operating partner and asset manager for Blackstone Real Estate Partners, has signed Vue Cinemas to anchor the 90,000-sq ft East End leisure development at St Enoch shopping centre in Glasgow.

Vue will operate a new nine-screen digital cinema in 30,000 sq ft. In addition to the cinema, eight restaurants and 35,000 sq ft of new retail and leisure space will be created within the existing roof structure in the former BHS store.

On completion in Summer 2019 the East End development will be Glasgow city centre’s only dedicated food and leisure destination. It is one of a series of initiatives under Sovereign Centros’ new business plan for the centre, and follows the recent refurbishment of the centre’s food court as well as publication of redevelopment plans for St Enoch centre’s Argyle Street ownership for the creation of new flagship stores.

Paul Bailey, asset management director at Sovereign Centros said: “The new Vue cinema and restaurants, where we are already in solicitors’ hands with a number of operators, will add to the continued improvement of St Enoch and the creation of the all-round shopping and leisure destination in Glasgow city centre, providing a completely new and complementary offer all under one roof.”
